Lake Mary, Florida, USA – 9 July 2008 – The IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS GLC) today announced new support that will allow vendors of products that implement the IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) standards, and the users of such products, to validate conformance. Results of conformance tests to application profiles approved by the IMS GLC will be published in an online catalog on the IMS GLC web site.
The new QTI community will be offered as a component of the Common Cartridge Alliance (see http://www.imsglobal.org/cc/alliance.html ) and will be managed and administered under the policies and procedures for development of and conformance to IMS GLC application profiles. The new QTI community will address conformance of both the currently released QTI v1.2 and also the draft QTI v2.1, which is currently out for public comment. Conformance marks will be issued by IMS GLC for use by product suppliers designating specific product versions that meet conformance to specific application profiles. These marks will also be published in the publically available online catalog.
“IMS is very pleased with the broad adoption of QTI as both an architecture for assessment systems and an interoperability specification,” said Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of IMS GLC. “The investment made by the IMS members in the Common Cartridge Alliance will now allow IMS to provide a verification of claims made with respect to QTI by numerous suppliers around the world.”
Interested parties should contact QTI@imsglobal.org . In addition, IMS GLC will be sponsoring a gathering of the QTI community during the Testfest at its next quarterly meeting in Birmingham UK, 15-18 September - see http://www.imsglobal.org/sept2008meeting.html
